Tbh I like the series even without these power ups, I mean sure they're cool and hype you up and all but it's still even more enjoyable without the special powers or skills that each Shounen anime introduces later on like in One Piece and DBZ.

So. What they displayed was something they call "payout" in gambling. People who are judged to have a lesser chance of winning in a match would, in turn be worth more money if you bet on them. In this case for Zushi you would get around 1.5 times the money you bet if he actually won, but for Killua who was the less popular pick, people would get around 2 times.
